Java is finally Free and Open! GPL Compatible.
Recently Sun Microsystems announced they were going to release Java under the terms of the GPL. The task (6.5 million lines of code) is complete! Nvidia says no to free drivers, I say no to Nvidia
So in short, the deal is, you get the card, but the only way to use it is to rent a driver to which you have an incomplete access, thereby making your fruitful use of the card consistently dependent on Nvidia and, quite obviously, therefore limiting the control you as a supposed owner of the card really have over it

PolishLinux KDE 4.1 Preview (Rev 802150)
Our favorite Polish (p)reviewer (p)reviews. In this (p)review, Plasma has gone under major API changes and is still a bit wonky, Dolphin gets tabs (hell yeah!), Phonon gets a Gstreamer backend, KWin gets wobbly windows (hell yeah!), and KInfoCenter and K3b get KDE4 ports. KDE 4.1 will be sure to blow your mind.

Linux runs natively on the Wii
"And last but not least, we have finally run natively Linux on the Nintendo Wii through Team Tweezers' twilight-hack (http://wiibrew.org/index.php?title=Twilight_Hack). We have released a small usbgecko-enabled Proof of Concept mini-distro to prove it." It still needs drivers for the fancy Wii hardware...but regardless, it's Wii Linux is here.
